KINAQ

Terms & Conditions

Last updated 11 September 2026

These terms apply when you buy or use KinaQ — the PowerPoint add-in and the browser extension, both of which turn selected text or an image into an Anki card. By buying a licence or using KinaQ, you agree to these terms.

1. What KinaQ is

KinaQ is software that runs on your own computer and talks directly to your own local installation of Anki (via the KinaQ add-on inside Anki, and/or a companion browser extension). KinaQ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Ankitects Pty Ltd (the makers of Anki) or Microsoft. You need your own working copy of Anki, obtained separately, to use KinaQ.

2. Buying a licence

KinaQ is sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription — there's no recurring charge. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The price shown at checkout may include tax calculated based on your location.

On successful payment, you receive a licence key. That key is a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use KinaQ on up to two (2) computers. The PowerPoint add-in and the browser extension share one activation per computer — installing and activating on a computer unlocks both there together, and doesn't use a second seat. It's for your own personal use; you may not share, resell, sublicense, or redistribute your licence key.

3. Free trial

KinaQ may offer a free trial (currently: your first 20 cards, with no licence key required) before a licence is needed. We may change or withdraw the trial at any time.

4. Refunds

We offer a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund from the date of purchase — see the Refunds section on our homepage for how to request one. This is offered voluntarily and in addition to, not instead of, any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Because KinaQ is digital content delivered immediately on payment, by completing your purchase you acknowledge that you're requesting immediate access, and that this may affect any statutory right to cancel that would otherwise apply to undelivered goods. Our 14-day refund policy above is offered regardless.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: circumvent, disable, or attempt to bypass KinaQ's licensing or activation mechanism for the purpose of avoiding payment; share a licence key beyond the two-device limit it's sold for; resell, rent, or redistribute KinaQ or any licence key; or use KinaQ for any unlawful purpose.

We may revoke a licence key where we reasonably believe it's being used in breach of these terms (for example, shared far beyond its device limit, or obtained through a fraudulent chargeback).

6. Intellectual property

KinaQ's software, branding, and the KinaQ name are owned by us. Buying a licence gives you the right to use the software as described above — it does not transfer any ownership or intellectual property rights to you.

7. No warranty; limitation of liability

KinaQ is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose beyond what's described here. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so (for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud) or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, our total liability to you arising from your purchase or use of KinaQ is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time, for example as the product or its licensing model changes. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use KinaQ after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing here affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer in the country where you live.
